Physical Therapy Session

Chiropractors can use a variety of therapies besides spinal manipulation (spinal adjustments) to treat neck and back pain. They also include a thorough physical and neurological evaluation of the patient to diagnose the cause of spine-related pain. Diagnosis of a spinal disorder is the most important part of a patient's chiropractic treatment plan. At Active Family Chiropractic, we use therapies in our offices such as muscle stimulation and ultrasound to increase your body’s own healing capabilities.

What is Muscle Stim?

Muscle stim, or stimulation, is an approach where electric currents are sent through muscles, causing them to contract. Electric muscle stimulation also helps heal injuries to promote relaxation and stress relief.

By contracting the muscles, we are able to help patients find relief from pain in the back or legs, reduce swelling, and help tone the muscle. In some cases, it can also help speed up the recovery process.

How Can Ultrasound Help?

Ultrasound is used in chiropractic care. It uses sound waves to create deep heat therapy used on soft tissues and joints. Essentially, the sound waves are micro-massaging the soft tissues and joints. Ultrasound therapy helps reduce back pain, stiffness, and spasms, as well as increase blood flow and speed up the healing process.

Continuous Therapy with Chiropractic Care

Our chiropractors are also interested in your health as a whole. Chiropractors help create and maintain stability in your body. We do so by incorporating A LOT of home therapy, such as stretching and strengthening. Stretching is one of the best ways to help get rid of pain in the back of the legs, the lower back, and other large muscle groups.

Along with stretching and regular exercise, chiropractic care is one of the best things that you can do for your body and health.  These techniques are used to help with body re-education to help your body heal now and work better later.
